r

Exercise is the age old way of staying healthy and fit. It is a proven fact that people who exercise are healthier and are prone to fewer  health related problems than those who don’t. Some of the benefits are that it improves sleep, prevents weight gain and reduces the risk of falling among older adults. The following are the few tips on beginning with exercises.

1)  Commit to your exercise plan

We all remain very enthusiastic of starting with our workouts but sadly only few commit to it.That is the hardest part of any workout.Consistency is the key and it holds true in case of fitness. The root of the problem is that one tends to set unrealistic goals and get dejected in not achieving them.Plan a schedule and stick to it.You cannot receive a sleek and slim body within few days of workout. Its a result of dedicated and consistent exercise for a at least a month.Starting and stopping doesn’t provide a sustained growth.Make sure that your workout is not monotonous.Rather it should be a mixture of various enjoyable activities. So the next time you make goals make sure you commit to stay fit and stick to it.

2) Start slow and gradually increase your level of activity

Before you start any kind of exercise make sure that your pace is slow. Vigorous exercise at the start of the day will leave you with less strength for the following day. Begin slowly and gradually increase your level of activity. With every passing week make sure that you increase your workouts and stick to the schedule.  Don’t get stuck in the rut. Make progress every time and make them       challenging. Set fitness goals for yourself and most importantly follow them. Once you develop the     required strength, your body will get stronger and the activities which were once proved to be a  Herculean task may seem like a cakewalk to you. So gather the required will and go for it.

3) Save stretching for last

Think of your body as a rubber band and stretch it as much as you can.Initially it was believed that one has to stretch the muscles before one heads for a workout. Our muscles and bones take time to warm up and that’s the reason the stretching is recommended. But a recent study has proven it to be false.”It has been a long time since anyone has recommended extensive stretching before exercise, because it has been known for a while now that the best time to stretch is after,” said Richard     Cotton, the national director of certification at the American College of Sports Medicine.
It was found out that stretching could be saved for the last.In fact, it is regarded as a great tool to help for overall mobility, but will yield you good results only if practiced properly and at the right time.

4) Buddy workout

It’s always good to rope in your best buddy for a workout. This will prevent boredom and your excitement will double as you share your workout tips and try them.Share your goals about the workout to your family members so that they help in motivating you. Set realistic goals and gain inspiration from your other fit allies and ask for a few tips and work through achieving them. Another aspect of bringing in the friend is the need for a company and it becomes a social exercising. This is will also    activate the competitive spirit of yours.Even if you may feel like quitting it that pleasurable walk or a jog with your pals will keep you going.

5) Say no to painful exercise

It’s a false assumption that only painful workouts yield you the best results.Workouts for the beginners will prove painful for some time till your body gets adjusted, but that doesn’t mean that you purposely perform rigorous workouts which forcibly induce pain.If this is true, then you are going the wrong way and instead the exercise may backfire leaves you with no option but to quit exercising. The last thing that you want to do is hurt yourself and not be able to perform the daily tasks. It will also make your daily tasks hard to perform.Make sure that you don’t overdo it.

6) Hydrate

Drinking water at regular intervals is very important in your workouts. This will keep you hydrated. It is regarded as one of the best ways to ward off the illness and recover from any injury. Its necessary for us to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water per day as out body is made up of 75% of water.Lack of water leads to dehydration. And while you exercise, the perspiration leads to loss of water and salt in the body and that it needs to be replenished.Whether you are an elite athlete or a weekend warrior, drinking water during the workouts is essential if you want to get most of your workouts and feel good.

7) Don’t get discouraged

Its a human tendency to get discouraged when you don’t see immediate results.Make sure that you are mentally prepared for the workouts. You will start to see the results only if you stick to your workout regimes without losing hope. The most important thing to keep in mind is steer clear through all the discouragements and prove it to yourself.Shed off those negative thoughts along with the carbs as exercise not only helps physically but also make you mentally strong and calm. The easy way to stay encouraged is to set tangible short goals and make sure that with each passing day you just get closer to them and ultimately achieve it.
