What to Eat – Before & After Workout

workout

What you will eat just before and after your work out is just as essential as the work out itself. Here are some pre and post work out eating tips to help you enhance your exercise regimen

         PRE-WORKOUT

  • Load up on carbs: One hour prior to you workout, you can eat a fruit (apple or banana), toast or cornflakes and wash it down with a glass of water. This will give you the required strength and help you stay hydrated.
  • Dont starve: Working out on an empty stomach is a no-no. It can lead to fatigue and a lack of energy.
  • Avoid heavy meals: Regular individuals should keep a gap of 2-3 hours between a heavy meal and a workout. This is to make sure that your sugar level reaches an optimum level

        POST WORKOUT

  • Eat inside an hour: Once your work out is over, make sure that you eat within an hour. This will help stay away from infections, as the body is most prone during this hour.
  • Stay hydrated: The body will lose salt while sweating. Rejuvenate lost electrolytes with coconut water or some other electrolyte-rich drink.
  • Greens: To assist digestion, make sure that you include plenty of greens in your meal, as they are rich in fiber.
